Call For Paper: Paper Presentation Competition At 2nd Indian Law Conclave 2019, Delhi

Cyber and cyber-aided crimes have seen a steep rise in the final decade, calling for brand new capabilities and understanding in criminal investigations. With the assist of Google, the Cyber Peace Foundation and Data Security Council of India have collaborated to layout a capability-building application for law enforcement officers on cybercrime investigations.Call For Paper: Paper Presentation Competition At 2nd Indian Law Conclave 2019, Delhi 1

To build this capacity and hone their investigative skills, a sequence of 1-day workshops titled “Understanding Cybercrime and its Investigation for Law Enforcement Officials” had been prepared for the cops from Assam, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. The initiative culminated with a workshop organized in Delhi on 3 July 2019. These workshops explore the nuances of rising cybercrime, modus operandi, applicable prison provisions, and research great practices. At the top of these workshops, the attendees are empowered with broad information on each era and law surrounding cyberspace, with unique attention on fact gathering, records requisition, and legal procedures. The officials were additionally addressed by using Lt Gen (retd) Dr. Rajesh Pant, National Cyber Security Coordinator; Mr. S N Pradhan, DG, National Disaster Response Force, Ministry of Home Affairs; Mr. Rakesh Maheshwari, Scientist G, and Group Coordinator – Cyber Laws & e-Security, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Mr. Ashok Kumar, Director, Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs.

Lt. Gen. (Retd) Dr. Rajesh Pant, National Cyber Security Coordinator, National Security Council Secretariat, said, “The authorities are devoted to addressing the demanding situations that cybercrime poses to modern society. Close collaboration with the enterprise is crucial to make the internet a safer space for all Indian citizens. Capacity constructing packages, together with this one through Cyber Peace Foundation and Data Security Council of India (supported by Google), is a critical effort in this course and might function as a blueprint for comparable collaborations for the future.”

Chetan Krishnaswamy, the Director, said Government Affairs & Public Policy, India & South Asia, Google said, “As an industry, we’ve made excellent progress in conveying the blessings of the Internet to all sections of the society, and there’s a want to invest in programs that also equip regulation enforcement businesses to ensure that residents keep gaining the advantages of better connectivity in an at ease and safe way. We have partnered with Cyber Peace Foundation and Data Security Council of India to facilitate engagement with law enforcement groups from special states and equip them with the records and abilities needed to work collaboratively with the Industry to ensure digital protection and security of every person in India.”

Rama Vedashree, the CEO, DSCI, stated, “The sophistication of recent technologies has led to rather inspired cyber-attacks that make conventional investigation strategies now not good enough. This needs law enforcement officers to recognize the era, continuously improve their abilities, and stay abreast of cybercrime research and forensics. The criminal justice system might grow to be more potent if the police, prosecution, and judiciary are trained. DSCI is continuously scaling its efforts in LEA functionality building through a partnership with Government and Industry.”

Vineet Kumar, President, Cyber Peace Foundation – Experience from the floor through operating with regulation enforcement businesses at the most primary levels in states has given us the expertise of emerging threats, the closing mile demanding situations, and the area level skill gaps. Thus, in all our initiatives, we try to discuss some imperative matters that each investigator ought to be aware of. Among these, mandate approximately first reaction and ensuring that victims get alleviation, open supply intelligence collecting, accurate facts requisition from intermediaries, and many others.
