Things you must avoid when dealing with a personal injury lawyer

If you’ve been in an accident, staying up-to-date on your legal rights is important. You should also ensure that all the information about your case is shared with your lawyer and the other party involved. Here are some things that could potentially lead to problems for you and your lawyer:

Article Summary show
1. Failing to get a police report when a car accident occurs.
2. Posting about legal issues on social media.
3. Not reporting the incident to your insurance company.
4. Not seeking medical treatment after an accident.
5. Missing deadlines for filing a claim
Make sure you don’t do these things!

1. Failing to get a police report when a car accident occurs.

  • A police report is essential for you to be able to file a claim against your insurance company.
  • You must get a police report as soon as possible following an accident, especially if any injuries are involved.
  • If you fail to get a police report and do not file one within 48 hours of the incident (excluding weekends), then your claim may be void or invalidated by law enforcement agencies across the globe!

2. Posting about legal issues on social media.

It is important to be careful when posting about your situation and the legal proceedings, especially if you are going through a personal injury lawsuit or any other legal action.

If you’re unsure whether or not something may affect how things turn out in court, ask an attorney before posting anything online that might lead someone else down the wrong path.

If possible, try not to give any information away until everything has been finalized with opposing counsel, so there aren’t any surprises later down the road when trying to get fair treatment from judges during hearings held regularly across America each year throughout summer months every year (June through August). You should also avoid posting anything personal regarding yourself or those close to you. At the same time, they’re involved in this battle with another person/company/entity, including pictures and videos where possible (but only after consulting with an expert).

3. Not reporting the incident to your insurance company.

To avoid any major complications, you must report the incident as soon as possible. If you don’t, there’s a chance that your insurance company will take away your no-claims discount. And if they do that, then it means that they’ll be liable for paying out whatever medical bills and other expenses are associated with the accident.

4. Not seeking medical treatment after an accident.

Seek medical treatment even if you don’t think your injuries are severe. If you have been injured, getting checked out by a doctor is the right thing. You may be surprised at what they find and how much better you feel after getting treatment.

If they don’t help, don’t worry; there are other ways of finding compensation for injuries outside of a personal injury lawyer’s office.

5. Missing deadlines for filing a claim

If you fail to file your claim promptly, the insurance company will deny it. In addition, if an accident was caused by someone else’s negligence (meaning they weren’t paying attention or doing something wrong), there may be no case against them! This can happen even if you have proof that you were injured and are entitled to compensation.

For the company to deny your claim, they need more time than usual because of some important things:

  • The amount of money involved – if it’s small compared with other types of coverage;
  • Whether or not there was intent from both parties involved;
  • Your experience level (if applicable).

Make sure you don’t do these things!

  • Don’t take legal advice from friends or family.
  • Don’t sign any legal documents without first consulting a lawyer.
  • Wait to talk to the insurance company before you consult a lawyer.
  • Don’t negotiate a settlement with the other party without a lawyer.

Get medical treatment after an accident and report it to the insurance company soonest so they can understand what happened in the event of another accident that you should do in the company of your Florida Personal Injury Lawyers to avoid being shortchanged.
